When I started my LEO career, I learned fast that there was a dogma about cops that was being pushed—RACIST!...
One is too many?

We are now told that our nation’s law enforcement are systemically racist (truth claim) and as a byproduct of that deep rooted racism, police are killing black people because of the color of their skin (truth claim). I’ve studied each case of an unarmed black person being killed by police in 2019 and awaiting on the 2020 stats.
Agreeing with the D.O.J, the Washington Post database of police shootings records 14 unarmed black people were killed by police in 2019. However after studying each and every case (Jefferson, Dean, Whitfield, Richardson, Griffin, Atchison, Watkins, Pheap, Twyman, Pudlik, Lewis, McVae, Scott and Mason)…only 6 were truly unarmed. The other 8 used cars, tasers, a dog and tried to disarm the officers as recorded by witnesses and camera footage. That is 6 truly unarmed deaths out of 3 million black arrests, 600,000 911 calls per day and 66 million police interactions with citizens in 2019.
Some say, well “ONE IS TOO MANY”. The connotation is that even if there is only 1 or in this case 6 we need to do what? Retrain every police officer and agency? Defund our police? REALLY!? According to Johns Hopkins, 250,000 Americans die each year from medical errors. Is “One Too Many?” Apparently not. Medical care is a hard profession. Should all 250,000 deaths from malpractice be investigated? Yes! Should 14 unarmed black deaths resulting in police interactions be investigated? Yes! Should wrongdoing be punished? Yes!
However, we must ask ourselves…with this overwhelming evidence to the contrary, why are so many duped, deceived, misled and now militant towards our nation’s guardians? I will tell you what is too many. Every police officer screamed at, spit on and assaulted.
